Welcome to Florida Open Carry
Florida Open Carry.org has been formed as a citizen activist organizatiion with the purpose of passing legislation that will allow all citizens of the state,without additional licensing, to lawfully carry firearms openly in public or in a private conveyance.
Forty Two (42) states allow their citizens to openly carry firearms in public. Sixteen (16) of these states allow their citizens to openly carry firearms without additional license being necessary. Twenty six (26) of these states allow their citizens to openly carry firearms with license. One state (1), California, only allows citizens to openly carry firearms in rural areas. Florida is one of seven (7) states which do not allow their citizens to openly carry firearms.
The objectives of Florida Open Carry are:
- Passage of legislation allowing all Florida citizens to openly carry firearms in public and in private conveyance, without additional licensing.
- Educate and desensitize the public regarding the legality of openly carrying firearms in public.
- The exercise our natural and inalienable right to self defense, using the most efficient and common tool, a firearm.
- Demonstrate to the general public that gun owners are not criminals but rather law abiding citizens exercising their rights.
The methods by which Florida Open Carry will acheive these objectives are:
- To identify laws which allow us to lawfully carry firearms openly within the State of Florida.
- To lawfully challenge any ordnance, rule, or regulation which restricts our rights to openly carry firearms within the State of Florida.
- To partner and work with State Representatives and Senators on current and future legislation regarding Open Carry of Firearms within the State of Florida.
- To distribute information via email, mail, telephone and in person to the public at large as well as government agencies regarding Open Carry. .
- To hold meetings and gatherings throughout the state while lawfully and openly carrying our firearms.
- To contact the media, conduct interviews, relate pertinent information on the internet, write articles and letters to the editors all on the legality of open carry.
- To participate throughout our communities staffing information booths regarding the right to openly carry firearms within the State of Florida. .
- To always be ambassadors of good will in regards to the safe and lawful carry of a firearm.
